Tableau Conference 2017基調講演レポート『Tableau Vision Keynote』 #data17 #tableau
現地(米国)時間：2017年10月09日〜2017年10月12日にラスベガスで開催されているTableauの年次カンファレンス『Tableau Conference 2017』。
今回現地参加はしていないので日本から開催を見守る形となりますが、今回のイベントはユーザー登録(無料)を行えば、キーノート(基調講演)を含んだ幾つかのセッションをWeb経由でライブストリーミング視聴が出来るようになっています。そこで当エントリでは遠く日本から現地ラスベガスで開催されているTableau Conference 2017のライブストリーミングセッションの模様をレポートしたいと思います。(イベントのツイートを交えてお届けしたいと思います)
当エントリでレポートする内容は現地(米国ラスベガス)時間：2017/10/11 AM 08:30 - AM 11:00に行われた『Tableau Vision Keynote』となります。

Tableau Conference 2017開催のほぼ一週間前、また事件現場がカンファレンス開催地でもある「マンダレイ・ベイ」という事もあり、開催を危ぶむ声も事件発生当初には挙がっていました。Tableau社より予定通り開催する旨公式発表があり、万全の警戒態勢・注意が払われる形での開催に至っています。

新バージョン：Tableau 10.5がPublic Betaに
カンファレンスキーノート(基調講演)で気になるのは新機能や新サービスに関する情報。より詳しい情報についてはこの日の(現地時間)夕方に行われた「Devs on Stage Keynote」で言及されていますので紹介についてはそちらのレポートに譲りますが、こちらの「Vision Keynote」でも代表的なものについて紹介がなされていました。
まずはTableauの新しいバージョン「10.5」に関する情報がこの日よりアクセス可能となりました。現時点では"public beta"な状態なので正式な製品版としての利用とはなりませんが、直近リリースされる事になる機能をいち早く体験する事が可能となっています。

Tableauの次世代データベース技術:「Hyper」
発表当初からその内容が注目されていた「Hyperエンジン」についてもベータ版の利用が可能になりました。

Hyperについては既存の抽出フォーマット「TDE」との実演比較デモ(単純データアクセス、抽出ファイルの作成等)を行っていました。実際確かに早いレスポンスでHyper側は処理を終えていました。こちらについては個別に動作比較等を行ってみたいと思います。

Data Prep(データ準備)の作業をサポート：「Project Maestro」
Tableau Conference 2016キーノートで発表されていた「Project Maestro」についても当キーノートで紹介がなされました。ほぼ丸1年経っているのでこちらは「ようやく来たか...！」というところでしょうか。

開発者寄りの機能としては、「Extention API」なるものも紹介されていました。企業の特定のニーズに応えるために,Tableauの機能をより適切に活用出来るようにデザインされたAPIとなります。

また、Extentions APIを含めた既存API群についても、以下のページに情報を整理した形で纏め直されているようです。これを機に既存APIについても改めて触って活用してみてはいかがでしょうか。
